Hello colleagues,

I have been using Trados 5.0 until last Sunday with no problem at all.
Windows XP, Office 2000.

Since I installed Trados 6.5 I have had all sorts of errors such as:
- 2147467259 Unspecified error
- 2146824577 The operation cannot be performed if executed asynchronically
- Runtime Error R6025 pure virtual function call
- and now, I get the same error I got as unspecified but with the message "Catastrophic error".

I don't know how I can start to investigate this.
Could it be related to some setting?
Could it have to do with not having uninstalled Trados 5.0? (they are in different directories)
System requirements?? (don't think so..)
I also got an unusual Windows message saying "Virtual memory is too low"

Anyway, any help will be highly appreciated.
Regards,
Carolina

Software version/registration Sep 2, 2004

Hi Carolina,
Two questions:
- Which version of T6.5 are you using (it's the build number I'm after - go to Help - About to check)?

- Did you register T6.5 after installation?
(Start - Programs - Trados 6.5FL - Register Trados 6.5 FL)

HTH, Ralf

Yes, I did.

Thanks, Ralf.

Missed a number of updates Sep 2, 2004

Thanks,
T6.5 was enhanced by a broad upgrade to build 417 early this year; more recently, Trados introduced T6.5.5 (build 438) - I suggest you download the latest version from TranslationZone. Get in touch with your reseller if the upgrade from build 410 to 438 doesn't work.

HTH, Ralf

No more errors/ Upgrade Sep 3, 2004

Thanks, Ralf, will do.

But, you know, last night I uninstalled the 5.0 version, then uninstalled the 6.5 version and installed the latter again, and I have had no errors so far!!
May be it had to do with 2 versions running in the same equipment.

Still, as soon as I get a new error I will download the upgraded version.

Thanks again and best wishes

Carolina

Multiple versions can co-exist Sep 3, 2004

Hi Carolina,
Glad you could get it running.

But, you know, last night I uninstalled the 5.0 version, then uninstalled the 6.5 version and installed the latter again, and I have had no errors so far!!
May be it had to do with 2 versions running in the same equipment.

Not necessarily - I have T5.0, T6.0 and T6.5 installed on the same computer, with no problems whatsover (what is crucial is to keep the installations well separated, and to always register the version you want to use when changing).

In normal usage, of course, there's no reason to keep the old versions - I only work with 6.5, but sometimes there are specific questions regarding 5.5 or 6.0, so I keep'em.

Cheers, Ralf

Possibly related to the version... Sep 5, 2004

Hi again,
I guess you noted Daniel Brockman's (Trados) response on TW_Users - for the benefit of those who followed this thread, Daniel indicated that this kind of behaviour occurred with the earlier versions of 6.5 (6.5.1) - this would be consistent with the build number you mentioned.

There's a related article on the Trados KB.

Best regards, Ralf

Yes, Ralf, his suggestion was the same as yours, so that is definitely the solution.

Thanks a lot for the article.
Have a good Sunday.
