... I find it difficult to be a full-time translator, a full-time wife and a full-time mum all at once. Something will inevitably suffer and it does, more often than not. But I know I cannot be the only one living like this

I only started translating after my second husband’s death and my three children knew quite well what my work meant to me and to them. It wasn’t always easy, but we managed reasonably well.

Understanding on both sides

Although my wife and kids are quite understanding of my job and my weird working hours, there is no work that could possibly hinder a break of one or two hours if I want. I take several breaks during the day anyway, and I have several other tasks besides my jobs. No big deal in the trade-offs.
