I keep having enough work from my regulars and as long as I keep my existing client base happy everything will be fine. Competition or no competition...

I see an increase in orders for Russian and Chinese but not so much for Japanese.

Compete or die
Jul 18, 2022
There seems to be intense competition between Italian agencies, forcing prices down. Too many agencies and too many translators.
Fortunately I have a specialisation (architecture, construction, real estate and associated fields) so I'm still getting the jobs - but not as many as before.

disagree
Jul 18, 2022
Some of my clients seem to have a hard time placing projects
(likely due to the fact that the rates and/or the work environment they have on offer do not suffice to attract good German translators).

No

My area of the JA-EN pair has been busy for many months and so far has shown no signs of slowing. I don't expect that to last much longer if, as I expect, some of the major economies tip into recession over the next 3-6 months.
EDIT To address the question: No. I don't think competition can have intensified, otherwise I would be getting less work.

I am more focused on my clients and providing them with an excellent service than keeping track of my competitors.
