Some of these companies are still posting some projects at ProZ.com. One company refused to pay us, the contact person even changed his e-mail address and the e-mail start coming back but I found his new e-mail address and contacted him and he told me his company is losing several projects and do not have any thing to pay me. Some of the companies looked an angle till the project completed, after they got what they want they disappeared. Since some of you could have the similar experience, please tell me how to deal with this people and how to prevent my self from this happing. Now I have a hard time how trust any company ▲ Collapse

and/or did you check with any of the payment practices lists available on the net before accepting the assignments you\'re referring to?
If not, this would definitely be a good start.
Good luck!
