Decimal notation (not a real issue, just for readability):
Less than 10,000 USD / 9,150 EUR -> 9 150 (or 9.150) EUR
Less than 0.044 USD / 0.04 EUR per word -> 0,04 EUR

Question 13. When was the last time you adjusted your rates?
This is a bit tricky as many people have different rates

Of course covering all cases is not feasible...

Question 14. If you provide translation services, please indicate your average/general rates for translation (per word):
Rates for direct clients and for agencies are different, calculating the average between the two is not that reliable IMO.

Rates for other services like editing, proofreading etc. are missing.

I just saw that on the page linked in the survey they refer to gross income...

Sorry, badly put. I would ASSUME it means income before tax, because...

... translation is an international market, so it would be best not to pollute the data with the effects of widely varying national tax rates.

For example, a translator in country X paying 20% tax will keep twice as much as a translator doing the exact same work in country Y taxed at 60%.

For that reason, it might be easier and better to survey rates rather than income.

Another reason is that, for many of us, our income is dictated less by demand than by inclination.

Except we don't write numbers that in English, however much the ISO might want us to...

Will the survey track locations or IP addresses? Did you opt out?

Question 1 Aug 23, 2023

Question 1 in this poll should be:
