Dear colleagues,

I could not find any formal or informal meet-ups or events for Melbourne-based translators. I have recently moved to Melbourne and would like to exchange views and experiences and build some relationships. Any suggestions for translators' events in Melbourne? Thanks and I look forward to meeting some of you soon!

Not sure about events May 6, 2013

but I have been looking for fellow translators in Melbourne myself. I realise this is quite an old post but if you're still interested in meeting translators in Melbourne please send me an email.

Cheers
Natasha

Any events for translators in Melbourne May 7, 2013

Hi, the local branch of AUSIT organises regular networking and PD events. I know of two events in Melbourne in May, one on 10 May is a networking breakfast and then a PD on CAT tools on 25 May. Contact [email protected] for details.

Hope this helps.

Why don't you organise a ProZ powwow? Nov 17, 2014

I did, and I now know every ProZ member in my city. There are only three, but it's quality, not quantity, that counts!

Also, ProZ does the work of finding the translators and sending the invitations.

Sorry, I thought this was a new post. Nov 17, 2014

I didn't realise it had been reactivated by peoplesartist's wholly irrelevant contribution.

Got a bit excited there for a moment Nov 18, 2014

...but the thread was so sold I didn't even remember having posted there myself! 😁

On topic: I did attend a powwow - only one fellow translator but good fun. If anyone is still interested I'd be happy to organise another one!

Powwows in Melbourne Nov 18, 2014

I organised a few powwows in Melbourne in 2013, but each time, only one or two translators attended although many more had signed up, which made the planning process a bit difficult. I'd be happy to organise or attend more powwows and I know a couple of translators who would also join, but I have a little one on the way so probably won't be able to socialise before March next year. Hope we can arrange something together then!

Cheers,
Nat

Powow? Jan 13, 2015

Just moved to Melbourne after living in Thailand for several years.

Would love to join in on a Powow with any fellow Melbournian translators.

March is past Mar 31, 2015

I guess this never happened

Looking forward to another time.

Can you recommend a tax-accountant here in Melbourne, preferably one who understands our business (with majority foreign income in USD)! I tried to make another thread about this but it didn't get much response.

Thanks!
